How We Walk With Families

A Step-by-Step Path to Belonging and Renewal

At the Afrikaners in Christ Council of America, we believe that restoring families begins long before they arrive and continues long after they arrive. Our process is deliberate, pastoral, and rooted in Christian care.

We partner with trusted U.S. institutions, faith communities, and local sponsors to help Afrikaner families of South African descent start anew in safety and dignity.

Step 1: Identification & Invitation

Families seeking a new beginning are identified through church networks, humanitarian contacts, and trusted partner organisations. Each family’s circumstances are prayerfully reviewed, with priority given to those facing hardship, insecurity, or persecution tied to their beliefs or background.

Step 2: Faith-Based Support & Legal Preparation

Once a family is approved for lawful entry into the U.S. through the appropriate humanitarian pathways, our team assists with:

  • Application preparation and document collection

  • Interviews and legal coordination

  • Practical support for departure readiness

At this stage, our Church and Sponsor Mobilisation Team works to match each family with a supportive congregation or co-sponsor circle ready to welcome them.

Step 3: Arrival & Welcome

From the moment a family steps off the plane, they are never alone. Our welcome includes:

  • Housing arranged and lovingly prepared in advance

  • Transportation to their new home

  • A fully stocked home with culturally appropriate food and necessities

  • Spiritual care and fellowship within a local church family

Every act of hospitality reflects our belief: you are not a stranger—you are family.

Step 4: First 90 Days of Restoration

During the critical first three months, families receive wraparound support to establish stability:

  • Connection to medical care and wellness support

  • Assistance with social security, documentation, and appointments

  • Guidance in job search, licensing, and trade access

  • Enrollment in English classes or bilingual education as needed

  • Ongoing discipleship and integration into community life

This is more than logistics—it’s the laying of a foundation for generations to come.

Step 5: Ongoing Partnership & Flourishing

We remain beside each family through long-term support, prayer, and growth:

  • Continued mentoring, pastoral visits, and cultural bridging

  • Assistance with financial literacy, driver’s licenses, and local navigation

  • Involvement in church life, civic life, and community leadership

  • Opportunities to give back and serve others who come after them

Because this is not a program—it’s a covenant of care.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”- Galatians 6:2
